Sightseeing marathon in Sydney - Part 1
In the morning we were heavily woken up by the noise coming from the large construction site next door of our hotel (you might remember the large machine outside from the picture, this was running nearly with the first sunlight😵 ) But at least we managed to have some better rest than on board of the planes. So we got settled and headed outside to have a breakfast in the cafe down the road ("Tropicana Caffe") for a good start into the day. The breakfast was amazing. I had a bacon and egg muffin whilst Denise chose to have a porridge with Strawberry that tasted like they would come fresh from the field.
With this good meal on board usage we figured out with the cafe WiFi were the next ALDI would be to buy SIM-cards to be able to have Internet on the go. No we were not happy to go to the first store we know from Germany, they have really good offers for mobile plans including data-packages and call/SMS-flat rates on o month-by-month prepaid basis. When you are outside of the EU with it's free roaming nowadays those are definitely the points where you realize how addicted and helpless you feel without a Internet-connected mobile phone. Googling this, checking the menu of that, what is the best way there... All things that we are already so used to that we crawl from one Wifi to the other like Zombies. In our case it wasn't that bad and I was surprised how good Denise managed the day without proper Internet. So the first station of our sightseeing tour was ALDI which you can see on the full first part of the tour below.
With the SIM-cards in our pockets and a Banana to go (I could not wait to taste Australian fruits 😁) we headed north through the parks in direction of the Sydney Opera house. The first park we walked across was Hyde park with it's lovely trees and fountains. Within the first meters we already met the first Australian birds, the ibis. Below you find a few pictures from our way through the park up to St. Mary's Cathedral.
